Something with muddy tracks made a big mess in our Year 1 classroom today! The children were shocked to find the chairs were on the floor, the pots were tipped over and the books were thrown over the floor… It was the Naughty Bus!

1JHRE were cooking pizzas yesterday. We worked the skills grating and spreading. It was such a great experience!

1JHRE designed and made free-standing bridges out of paper today. First, we learnt about what bridges were; then explored how to make paper stronger, then applied this learning in our own bridges.

Zakiya & Kylie's class have been working very hard showcasing their creativity in building structures such as bridges in DT.

1JHRE used their creativity and imagination today to plan and paint a seasonal picture. They used their skills of selecting the appropriate brush size and mixing secondary colours to make their painting match their plan.

Spring Term 25-26

IN 1JHRE we went outside to observe signs of spring. We identified many spring flowers such as daisies, blossom and forget-me-nots!

For the start of our DT project today, 1JHRE explored bridges. We used a variety of construction toys to build bridges. We showed co-operation and enjoyed our learning!

Celebrating British Science week in 1JHRE by showing curiosity about bees! We role played being buzzing bees, and learned how important bees are at collecting pollen to help new flowers grow!

1SA had a wonderful time exploring the aurora borealis through an exciting story, using light and different colours, a fun science experiment and creating an art piece. We showed curiosity and our imagination!

1JHRE had great fun at Cross Corners exploring a book about the Northern Lights. We explored torches, and projecting colours onto the wall, and made some amazing art pictures using oil pastels.

In 1JHRE, we showed lots of confidence and curiosity in science – we used a real fish to learn about its features. We identified fins, gills, scales, eyes and mouth. It was lots of fun!

Year 1 and 2 attended a special assembly this morning from Severn Trent. We learned about the journey of water, how it gets into and out of our homes and played an interactive quiz on how we can save water.

1JHRE took part in a mental health and wellbeing workshop. We learnt about how we can calm our minds and recognise what makes us happy! We made our own happiness boxes. 😀
